A Tiny Butterfly

This very small butterfly is an eastern tailed-blue, Cupido comyntas.  Here in Iowa it is usually our most common blue butterfly.

This butterfly, a male, was moving its hindwings up and down slowly.  I understand that they spread a scent by doing this, making themselves more attractive to females.
