I try to keep up with politics and I had heard about a group of Republicans who issued a document called The Pledge to America. I have seen stuff about it in the news so I thought I would check it out for myself.
It can be downloaded from here.
I downloaded the complete 48-page version of it. Here is my analysis of what it contains:
There are eight title pages and the front and back cover. (That leaves 38 pages if you are counting).
There are fourteen pages of photographs—mostly angry, elderly white people. (That leaves 24 pages).
One page is a table of contents (That leaves 23 pages).
Three pages have charts (That leaves 20 pages). One page is a summary, so there are 19 pages of text.
Many news sources have analyzed the text of the document, so that does not need to be done again. Therefore, my analysis was of the pages of photographs. I made a table. The page numbers are the pages of the pdf file, rather than what is printed on the page. I know you can’t always tell a person’s ethnic identity by sight, but I did my best.
The story the pictures tell is that the Republican party is full of angry old white people. I am an angry old white guy myself, but I mostly don’t like to be around other angry old white people.
I do have a cowboy hat but I don’t have a horse.
That is the best blog entry I’ve read yet! Thank you for your analysis and for your thoughts.
Yeah. That one was kind of fun.
Nice work, cowboy.
Ye-haw.
