About ten years ago we planted a couple of hazelnut bushes at our place.  It took about seven or eight years before they started producing nuts.   Now they are thick, at least on one of the bushes.

The only problem is that they are pretty small.  Many are so small they slip off the nut cracker.  Maybe there is some way to prune them in the spring so that the nuts will be larger.

Hazelnuts are also known as filberts.
