Another Sign of Spring

We have a small pond on our property.   I went down there today and looked at the wildlife.  We have a small group of ducks on the pond.  I spent some time looking into the water at insects, snails, crustaceans, etc.  It refreshes the soul.

We have at least three Anax junius (the common green darner) flying around the pond, doing what green darners do.  This large dragonfly migrates in a manner similar to the monarchs–several generations may be involved in one direction, and several involved in the reverse (although I think there are some huge gaps in our knowledge of what really happens.)

They will start a new generation in our pond.
