The other day I observed insects at our pond. I saw this little fly walking on the water.
This is nothing unusual–lots of small insects and other critters are able to walk on the surface of the water. There is probably nothing unusual or interesting about the fly, either. Nevertheless, I was amused by it and its ability. It easily went from walking on the water surface to flying a short distance.
I don’t have an I.D. for it. It seemed common, though.
Possibly a shore fly.
