We have a little pond on our property. It is really too shallow to keep fish in, so it is more of a wetland.
Yesterday there were fifty or a hundred dragonflies flying around the pond–at least half a dozen species.
This is called a twelve-spot skimmer, Libellula pulchella. If you counted the white spots you would have to call it a twenty-spot skimmer.
This is a fast moving dragonfly that never seems to stop and rest.
