Lilacs in Bloom

There is a park in Des Moines which has a number of lilac bushes–in fact it has a number of different varieties of this flowering bush.

I ran across this photo on my computer today.  I actually took it a number of years ago and looked for it unsuccessfully a few times.

I don’t know the people.  I just kind of like the image.

A lovely image – do you think she knew he was painting her?

very beautiful. I think lilacs inspire the photographer and artist in all of us. I live in Rochester, NY where each year, we show off our city’s vast lilac collection – over 1200 specimens, at our Lilac Festival. Sadly, the freak April snowstorm took out a lot of the bushes, which were already heavy with bloom, including my own. But the Lilac Festival here is something to experience if you ever get a chance.

Looks like the saturday sketch club, once a mens only group, had a meeting while you were there. All ages welcome. Places I’ve seen the group — http://www.savethebarn.com/2011/04/23/saturday-sketch-club/ and https://maplenolbarn.wordpress.com/2011/04/27/barn-art/
