What You See While Splitting Wood

I was splitting wood yesterday and came across this fellow.

It’s coloring very much reminds me of wasps–in fact that was what I thought it was initially.

It is a wood-boring long horned beetle.  I haven’t had time to identify it further.

You never know what you will find while splitting wood.
