Small Flies

It was a rainy Memorial Day weekend.  We did the visitations of the graves in the rain.  We had some chores we had to do in the rain as well.  Finally, after a rainy Monday morning, the clouds went away and the sun came out.  In the time after the rain and before the heat, I took some photos of tiny flies on a variety of flowers.  The photos shown here, and in fact most of the fly photos I took, were of Toxomerus marginatus.

These flies are tiny.

They are also quite charming.

Great images as always, it’s good to see tiny, easily overlooked insects close up and appreciate their beauty.

Lovely shots Harlan, especially the last one. I like hoverflies, we have lots of them in the UK and they’re kind of fun to try to identify.
