The Butterfly Chase

On Monday there was a very short window of time when the butterflies were out.  I saw a single black swallowtail drinking nectar from the Dame’s rocket flowers.  While I was trying to photograph it another joined in and chased the first.  I snapped a couple of quick shots and soon they were gone.

Really nice photograph: one pin sharp, the other on the move.

I’ve only seen swallowtails once before, and that was on the Parthenon in Athens, which was surreal and spectacular in equal measure.
