After a long dry summer we finally got some autumn rains a couple of days ago.  But today we had a thunderstorm.

I had forgotten how magical thunderstorms are.

Thunder rumbles the ground.  Electricity lights up the sky.  Hot humid air turns pleasantly cool.  You can smell the moisture on the dirt and on the vegetation.   The sky turns everything to a different color.

Sometimes a thunderstorm can be too magical and send a big tree limb through your window or hail through your windshield.   Lightning can punish your sins.

This one had just the right amount of magic where I was.  It had too much magic a few miles to the south, where it blew the roof off a school.
