Snails

Yesterday I moved some piles of firewood and came across a couple of upland pillsnails, Euchemotrema fraternum.  I was surprised at how well they seemed to be doing, given the extended drought that we had this summer.

When they are moved, they contract into their shells.  Give them a little time and they will slowly come out again.

I must admit, I always enjoy watching that.

  1. What great photos. Reminiscent of something Charles Dodgson would dream up. Cheers! WG
