View from the Porch

It is great to live in the country.  Here was the view from my front porch tonight. The deer wondered around the yard then went across the road.  I watched for four or five minutes before it moved on.  It … Continue reading

Arkansas Butterflies

Last week my coworkers and I left a cold, rainy Iowa and drove to Arkansas to take some classes.  It was warm and sunny down there, and after the classes were over we had a little time to ourselves.  Others … Continue reading

Another lichen

I found this unusual lichen on a pine tree in our yard.  I need to remember to look for it after rain to see what it looks like then. I looked through my lichen book and tried to figure out … Continue reading

We have had cool rainy weather here for at least four days.  It is getting pretty old.  This afternoon the rain quit for a while and the sun came out, but it was still cool.  I walked around a little … Continue reading

Easter Photos

I took a few photos yesterday.  I still feel like my camera skills are rusty from the long winter of not using them. The forsythia bushes are blooming.  They are about the only thing blooming right now. And of course … Continue reading

Fall Color

We had a mild but rainy day today, and when I got home it seemed like several of the trees had turned color overnight. So I took some quick snapshots of the fall colors. This is autumn in Iowa.
